About the Association
Message from the President
It is a great privilege and honor to address you as the President of the Korea Coastal Management Association.
Since its establishment in 2007, our Association has achieved significant milestones in coastal conservation, policy development, and academic research. Today, however, our coasts face complex challenges, including climate change, environmental degradation, and the need for more systematic management frameworks.
Building on our strong foundation, I am committed to preparing our Association for the future by actively embracing evolving international paradigms such as Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and Marine Spatial Planning (MSP).
Moving forward, our association will focus on:
- 1 Actively supporting government coastal and marine policies through robust academic research to strengthen the legal and institutional foundations.
- 2 Addressing critical issues in coastal communities, including climate disasters, marine debris, and population decline.
- 3 Strengthening collaborative research networks with domestic and international experts to advance discourse on coastal management.
Our coasts are not simply natural assets; they are the foundation of our culture and the well-being of future generations. Working together with all of our members, we will forge a sustainable and resilient future for our coastal regions.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our growth, and we ask for your continued interest and participation.
Kwon Moon-sang
President, Korea Coastal Management Association
